A Message from our Principal
I am currently in my 34th year as an educator and enjoying children and my profession more than ever.
I completed my degree in Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and then my Bachelor of Education degree at Queen’s University, also in Ontario, Canada. My classroom experience has included most grades from Kindergarten to Grade 12. It has also included teaching students with learning disabilities, developmental delay, behavior issues and giftedness. After spending over twenty years in the classroom my focus changed slightly to that of school administration. As a Vice Principal and then Principal, I served in five different schools in Ontario. When I became Principal it was at one of only three K – 12 schools in the province.
After a varied and satisfying career in Canada, culminating in nine years as an administrator, I chose to pursue a lifelong interest in international education. Having been out of the classroom for nine years I decided to begin my international career as a teacher, my first love. My educational beliefs and track record speak to commitment, child-centred learning, technological and curricular integration, collegiality and respect. I believe that I have the background and experience to serve the Canadian International School of Egypt as a strong international leader.
Communication is the cornerstone of sound leadership. It creates, maintains and nurtures the partnerships that must exist between principal, staff, students and parents to provide a stimulating and focused educational program. My door will always be open to conversations with these partners. In fact I will need the involvement and input of these stakeholders to realize our full potential and function most efficiently. I embrace the challenge of leadership as well as welcome the opportunity to continue my professional development by fulfilling all administrative duties to the best of my ability.
I have had the fortune of participating in the education of thousands of children. Part of the success that I have experienced revolves around being a good role model to my students. I am a dedicated professional, a life-long learner, a global citizen, and a balanced individual. My work ethic is strong, as is my dedication to my partner, my family and my community. These are values that I believe I convey within and outside my work environment.
My first statement involved my love of teaching and working with children. Children are our future. I can think of no more valuable role in life than to contribute to the development of our future generations. I believe that all students can learn and look forward to working with all partners to ensure that our students have the opportunities that they need in order to develop as happy and engaged members of society.
