Welcome to CISE Eco Team

The Eco-Team is an ongoing and active school committee seeking the involvement of students, teachers, and administrators. The committee was formed to show the importance of having a school-run program that teaches students to be active stakeholders in their school's environment and overall community. The main goals of the Eco-Team committee are to increase environmental awareness, to improve the school's overall environment, to have a greater involvement in the local community, to promote pupil empowerment, and to reduce waste. In the future we hope to gain international contacts through partnerships with other "Eco-Schools" and various environmental organizations.

The committee's biggest challenge is to promote environmentalism and good recycling habits in its school environment. We are also involved in many other activities that promote a greener and more eco-friendly school environment through our annual Eco-Team T-Shirt Contest, Litterless Lunch Days, Earth Day celebrations, Spring Fling, and from our school's own Eco-Idols. All of our activities involve the whole student body, teacher involvement, and the support of administrators. We are always seeking support as well as, active members that will help facilitate these and future goals!

Think Green, The Eco-Team

Our Eco-team started off with an interest in organic food. We researched what is organic food and found we had many questions along with some concerns. At our next meeting, Ms. Dalia an organic, vegetable garden owner and specialist visited us and answered all of our questions. As well, she educated us about the pros of organic food. We were invited by Ms. Dalia to visit her organic, vegetable garden in Katameya. After our visit to the garden we were inspired to grow our own veggie garden at the school. We chose a spot for our garden with Ms. Dalia's help and started the dirty work. First, we brought in brick to make our gate for the garden. With the help of the gardeners and agricultural experts, the soil was put down and was ready for us to plant our seeds in. We planted various vegetable seeds; rocca, radish, celery, dill, onion, eggplant, and parsley! Along with planting the seeds, we made posters to have awareness in our school about the garden. We are very excited for the next step, which is seeing our organic vegetables grow. Check out our pictures and look for new updates about our garden in the next few weeks and months. Special thank you to Mr. Mohamed Younis for helping us and providing the materials needed.
